The following is a list of research looking at the effects of yoga on heart rate variability (HRV).
Most research studies in this list indicate the duration and frequency of yoga. Age of participants and general level of health is sometimes noted. Some of the studies are targeting specific conditions or populations that may be aided by a yoga practice.
The most glaring omission, common to most yoga research is lack of detail or protocol specific to style, intensity, type of poses, sequences, and whether or not pranayama or yogic breathing was employed. It seems a mystery as to why the most important control to outcome is not outlined more clearly in yoga research studies.
This list is not intended to show or prove the efficacy of a yoga practice but is meant to provide a general reading list into the available literature.
